Self–Reliant is a Catalytic leverager for NGOs working to make Developmental Delay children become independent adults
Mission Statement
Self-Reliant believes that all developmental delayed children in this world have the right to live as independent adults. This is specially challenging in developing countries. Self-Reliant believes that there are a large number of established NGOs in the developing world that are currently working diligently to support developmental delayed children. However they lack dedicated funding streams, collaboration with similar NGOs, and access to new methods that are working in the developed world. Self-Reliant’s primary mission is to help these effective established NGOs get sustained funding and empower them to leverage information from other NGOs in a similar sector.
Self-Reliant’s expected impact
Provide sustained funding
- Small and medium sized Developmental Delay (DD) NGOs tend to spend over 50% of their time to source funding which takes time away from delivering the service they are good at.
- Self-Reliant will strive to provide guaranteed funding for 5 years to selected DD NGOs.
- Self-Reliant will also try to help DD NGOs to create innovative funding structures so they become self-sustaining.
Provide Transparency to donors
- Self-Reliant will create a framework to identify effective DD NGOs.
- Self-Reliant will develop a certification process for DD NGOs.
- Help DD NGOs to create/focus short term and long term deliverables as necessary.
- Using technologies like block chain matchup donor funding to NGOs and/or deliverables.
- Help DD NGOs to manage and monitor short term and long term results.
Create a Platform for NGOs to network with each other
- In the medium term, Self-Reliant to create a national database of NGOs working on Developmental Delay.
- Self-Reliant will use frameworks like social media platforms, conferences, and mirroring to create network opportunities for DD NGOs.
- Self-Reliant will identify leaders by region and by stream (identification & improvement, education support, other support (cognitive, physical, speech, motion, etc.), work life support, and advocacy.)
- Encourage and fund leaders to specialize in their specialized fields by creating incentives.
- Encourage free sharing of knowledge across platform members.
Networking with US and European NGOs working in DD
- Self-Reliant will identify DD NGOs in US and European Countries who are leaders in DD.
- Promote networking and mirroring opportunities between these NGOs and developing countries DD NGOs using social media platforms and mirroring.
- Bring in best practices tested and successful to developing country NGOs.
